Membership Benefits & Use of Fees
Membership of the Anglo-Portuguese Society is both a way to participate in our cultural life and a direct contribution to the charitable work of the Society.
As a registered charity in England and Wales (Charity No. 313589), membership subscriptions are essential to the sustainability of the Society and are used to support:
The organisation and delivery of cultural, academic, and educational events
Lectures, concerts, exhibitions, and talks promoting Portuguese history, culture, and contemporary life in the UK
Educational initiatives and awards, including student and research-focused programmes
Operational and administrative costs necessary to run the Society responsibly and in compliance with charity governance requirements
The development of new partnerships and initiatives that strengthen Anglo-Portuguese relations
All membership income is reinvested in furthering the Society’s charitable objectives.
In return for their support, members enjoy a range of benefits, including:
Discounted entry to Society events, lectures, concerts, and talks
Priority booking for events with limited capacity
Invitations to members-only events, receptions, and special previews
Advance notice of forthcoming activities and programmes
Opportunities to engage with academics, artists, professionals, students, and institutions connected to Portugal and the UK
Membership offers both cultural enrichment and the chance to be part of a long-standing community committed to promoting Anglo-Portuguese friendship and exchange.
By becoming a member, you are supporting not only a programme of events, but a charitable mission that has endured since 1938. We value the continued involvement of our members and encourage active participation in the life of the Society.
